Volvo Polestar | Review, Interior, Exterior, Price, Engine. - Welcome to my review of the 2012 Volvo C30 R-Design with the Polestar Performance Package. Yep, you read that right: Polestar, as in Polestar Racing, the company Volvo has charged with souping up their engines. Now, I know what you're thinking or at least what my male readers are thinking about the name Polestar. Yes, there is a very obvious joke, and no, I am not going to go there. Accuse me of dancing around the issue if you like, but I'm going to focus on my job, which is to strip the C30 down to its bare essentials.

Yes, it's a 500-horsepower Volvo S60. Yes, it's fast very fast indeed. Polestar, the company that built it, is estimating 0-60 mph in less than 4.0 seconds. (If they said 3.5 seconds, we would believe them.) It is also very expensive. Neither Polestar nor Volvo will say just how expensive, but let's assume north of $200,000. Now that all the forum racers have their numbers, the rest of us can actually talk about the car.

Polestar is the stand-alone reincarnation of Volvo's racing effort from the 1990s. After a decade of racing touring cars, Volvo corporate began to lose interest in the daily operation and expense of building racing cars and engines, but the people involved in the effort didn't. So the battle continues under a different flag, but still with a large amount of factory support.

Throw in the seemingly appetising starting price of $82,990 and you have a tantalising prospect. While its limited numbers just 50 will be made and all are coming to Australia mean it is unlikely you will see any collecting dust in showrooms, this is an important car because it has the potential to be the first in a long line of tuned and toned Polestar-tuned Volvo models.
